Andy Spackman
Andy Spackman is multi-disciplinary artist working across illustration, contemporary craft making and music. He works under a range of pseudonyms including the art duo the Habsburg's and Nimzo-Indian. He has exhibited at: The Bangkok Arts and Cultural Centre, The Ethnographic Museum Krakow, Aspex Gallery, The MAC, Herbert Art Gallery; BMAG and they were short listed for the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
As musical project Nimzo-Indian he has released several albums as well as creating remixes for Mark Springer, Rip Rig and Panic and the High Llamas. His music has been played on BBC 6 Music and featured in Creative Review, MOJO, the Wire Magazine, the Independent and on the cultural blogs Booooooom and Lost at e Minor. He also builds his own musical instruments.
Francis Lowe
Artist and award-winning academic Francis Lowe started his career working as a special effects and animation assistant in Hollywood on movies ‘Alien 3’, ‘Solar Crisis’, ‘Horizon’ and ‘Tom and Jerry the Movie’. Returning to his native Ireland, he graduated from the Dun Laoghaire School of Art & Design and went to work as an animator for children’s television in the UK. After working on programmes including CITV’s ‘Wolves, Witches and Giants’ and BAFTA-nominated ‘Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids’ Francis began to pursue work that stepped away from the animator’s desk and studio to engender its creation. He has devised and produced experimental animation and performed live visual accompaniment for internationally renowned musicians, which earned him a reputation at festivals such as Glastonbury and The Big Chill. He has delivered papers in Ireland (2010), Portugal (2013) Dartmouth, USA (2014), Canada (2014), Greece (2015) and the UK (2015), in which he compares and contrasts elements of the theatre and stagecraft with those of animation and illustration and explores the value of animation and illustration studies in the technological and information age.
He is the Course Director of the BA Illustration and Animation at Coventry University, Manager & Director of Franimation, Animation Specialist at Glow and Founder & Director of arts initiative Freeseeing.
Jay Taylor
Jay Taylor graduated in 2005 with a BA (hons) Illustration degree. He has since gone on to work as a freelance illustrator internationally for clients in editorial, design and advertising, publishing, music and new media. In 2009, Jay joined as Course Director for the Fine Art and Illustration degree programme at Coventry University whilst continuing with his freelance career.
